Sebastian

A Chance to Live
Sebastian came to Shadow Cats through our Trap, Neuter and Return program. He, along with his brother Harley and sister Sabrina were trapped about a year ago. These sweet cats were not released back into their environment. Instead they went into foster care and became docile love monkeys. Of course by then they weren't cute little kittens anymore, they were big six month old cats and because they were sometimes quiet and passive they were often overlooked at Adoption Days.

They quietly got older...

When Sebastian was about a year old, he became violently ill from a viral infection. His legs swelled, his joints hurt, his once plump body became emaciated. Despite intensive treatment, he continued his downward spiral.

The easy thing to do would have been to put him to sleep. (euthanasia) But here at Shadow Cats, we don't do things just because they are 'easy!' We do things that are in the best interest of the cat. And when Sebastian lifted his head and looked at you with those great amber eyes, he seemed to be saying, "Hold on! Wait! Give me a chance!" So that is what we are doing.

He is still at the veterinary hospital being treated intensively. He spent this weekend at the Emergency Room in Round Rock. He received plasma and other IV therapies. He is now back at Central Texas Cat Hospital where he is getting the best care we can give him.

None of this comes without a price tag however. Sebastian's treatments have been expensive. He is fighting a hard battle and without the veterinary care he has to have, he stands little chance. We want to give him that chance but need your help. We need donations to help cover his medical care. Donations can be sent to our Shelter address on our website, or you can donate at any of our links on our website. You may also call in credit card donations to CTCH at 388-1299. Please say it is for Sebastian.

The one great piece of news I can tell you about Sebastian at this point is that he is eating like a horse! And as Dr. Smith always says,"...an eating cat is a very good sign!"

We hope this is true and pray for a good outcome for Sebastian.
