We do not take cats in from the public (our
mission is the trapping, sterilizing and
releasing of free-roaming cats) we can give you
information and resources to help you find a
solution.
After a
veterinary examination, you may try introducing
the new cat. Have the
new cat put up in a safe room, such as laundry
room or powder room, with comfy bedding, food,
water and a litter box of course! Let your other
pets get used to her presence without direct
contact. They will be able to hear her, and get
used to her smell (in your home and on you)
gradually.
After a week or two, you can try letting the new
cat out for short, supervised, visits.
Understand there may be some unhappy cats
temporarily as they get used to the newcomer.
Give
lots of love to your cats to reassure them they
are still "Top Cats". Give treats to
everyone just before you put new cat back into
her temporary sanctuary. You may wish to check
out
www.bestfriends.org for further
information on socializing cats that exhibit
feral and/or fearful behaviors.
