You may have noticed that there are more than
just a few black and white cats, commonly known
as tuxedos, at the sanctuary. It’s well known
that Sheila has an especially soft spot for
them. So when a handsome black and white cat
named Tuxie couldn’t remain in his feral colony,
it didn’t take long to find him a spot at the
sanctuary. He usually hangs out in a far corner
of an upper deck in the Outback, mostly keeping
well away from people.
But spend a
little time around him and his eyes tell a
different story. Like many formerly feral cats,
he’s very cautious around people – that used to
be a valuable survival skill for him. Now,
though, you can see the longing in his eyes for
something more. He’s started coming close by
sanctuary workers and volunteers whenever wet
food cans are opened….and like a lot of others,
with enough time, patience, and TLC he may
eventually discover the joys of human affection.
And at the sanctuary, we’ll have plenty of arms
and laps ready for him when that day comes!
