Stewart                                        Born 6/14/01

Apparently good looks, and good luck, run in Stewart’s family. He and his mom, Tango, were trapped when they were strays in the sanctuary neighborhood. Now instead of wandering by and looking wistfully into the Outback enclosure at all the cats who seemed to have it made – plenty of food, cozy beds, all kinds of neat things to climb on – Stewart is on the inside. He still likes to look out, but having spent time on both sides of the screen, he knows what a great deal he has now!

Stewart is hard to categorize. He’s fairly skittish and tends to keep to himself, hanging out on the high shelves and decks in the upper reaches of the Outback. However, unlike truly feral cats who will tend to bite if you approach too closely or corner them, Stewart really seems to like people. With a little coaxing and TLC, he’ll warm up to you and let you pet him, which he thoroughly enjoys.  When our volunteers do the daily wet feeding, Stewart is the first one to run out and then dashes from plate to plate to sample a bite from each one.  At the sanctuary we try to provide a setting that lets all the cats live however they like, with all kinds of different areas and habitats, complete privacy and seclusion for those who want that, and of course, volunteers to provide plenty of affection for all the kitties who appreciate a good lap!
