SPONSOR-A-CAT

I have 2 sponsors!

I am a dedicated dog person. Always have been and swore I always would be. But, one day I went to Shadow Cats with Kate Layman, and some of the cats there (particularly Nikki) grabbed my heart. Since then, I've been adopted by a stray cat older cat who now lives with us and our two dogs. It's funny but I think Shadow Cats prepared me for that "adoption". Thanks for all the wonderful work that you do!      --Janet Tysinger--

I am very proud to be       sponsoring this sweet boy       --Allison Salas--

Salty                               Born 8/20/05

Salty came to us as a young cat through Oak Hill Rescue on the south side of Austin. He lives in Cookie’s Place since he has feline leukemia. You’ll often see him on the KittyCam, but he really loves basking in the sun on the outside deck in nice weather, so he spends a lot of time out there during the day. Life at Shadow Cats seems to agree with Salty – he’s gained several pounds since he’s been living with us, and has a thick lustrous coat.

Salty craves attention but can sometimes be a little bit shy. As soon as you sit on the couch, you’ll find several cats jumping up there with you. After you’re thoroughly covered in cats, if Salty is in the room you’ll see him come over and stand there, looking wistfully up at you.  Over the years he's become less shy, and these days will often climb across the back of the couch and wait for an opening to slip into your lap.

With all the boisterous personalities in Cookie's Place, Salty can be easy to overlook.  But he's a sweet, calm guy who gets along with everyone.  He's one of the longest term residents of Cookie's Place, having come here in 2007, and is living proof that cats with feline leukemia can enjoy wonderful lives if given a chance.  And the safe, loving environment of the Shadow Cats sanctuary is just what this guy needed to really thrive and live the life he truly deserves.
