You may have
heard about several people who shared a huge
lottery jackpot recently. Well, Pickles is
a big winner too.
He was born to a stray cat who was taken in by
someone, and some friends of theirs adopted two
cute little gray kittens. But when they
took them in for their routine vet checkup, they
found that they were feline leukemia positive.
Their owners started checking around and quickly
found that almost no shelter anywhere provides a
home for FeLV cats. That's when
Pickles hit the jackpot - we get urgent pleas
for help with FeLV kitties almost every day, and
sadly have to say "no" to almost all of them.
But due to a recent loss we had room in Cookie's
Place for Pickles and Hyacingh - it was a long
shot, but for them it turned out to be their
lucky day.
When Pickles came down
with a serious fever in his first week with us
we were very concerned.....but after a week at
Central Texas Cat Hospital he managed to recover
from it and has been in great health and growing
like a weed since coming back home to Cookie's
Place.
Pickles seems to
be a favorite of Weston's, who
both groom and watches over him. He's easy
to spot on the Kitty Cam - his face is almost
all gray, while sister Hyacinth's has a big
white streak. Pickles is WILD - he is like
a little tornado when he gets going with
Hyacinth or one of the other cats. He
loves toys, climbing, jumping, wrestling....in
other words, he loves everything! He's
either dashing around at full speed, or crashed
out napping when he needs to recharge. Tune in
to the Kitty Cam and watch his adventures -
he'll be the little gray blur streaking across
the picture!
