Sweet little Jet passed on
January 9, 2012. She'd been slowly wasting away
over the past few months, and after spending the
past several days at Central Texas Cat Hospital
there was nothing more that could be done from
her. So this afternoon she came home to at least
be back in familiar surroundings. However, she
was so frail that she wasn't even walking
steadily, and it was clear that it was her time.
Jet spent the afternoon on
her favorite spot on the window shelf in Nana's
Corner with a plate of Fancy Feast always at her
side. We heated up the room to be extra warm for
her since she was so thin, and piled up soft
blankets around her. Nephertiti was on the next
pillow over, as she almost always is lately,
curled up with O.B. - but as soon as she saw Jet
she knew who needed comforting and immediately
went over and laid down next to her.
Jet was one of the first sanctuary cats and one
of our oldest - we don't know exactly how old,
but she was at least sixteen. Most of her life
was spent at the sanctuary, along with her
daughter Tree Cat who was trapped with her many
years ago. Until recently Jet lived in the
Outback and loved hanging out on the upper
ramps. Last year when she developed some health
issues she moved into Uptown, and then into
Nana's Corner. Her passing this evening was
peaceful - Sheila said one of the most peaceful
she's ever seen - surrounded by loving hands.
Thanks to all of you who cared for Jet and
helped make her life with us so wonderful.
