Jasmine

Our dear Jasmine passed on January 9, 2012. Her health had been failing steadily for the past month, and just a few days ago she developed a growth on the side of her head. She had surgery this morning to explore and hopefully remove the growth, but unfortunately it was too large and invasive and the only humane option was to let her pass.

It's always incredibly hard when this happens, and Jasmine is no exception. She was a quiet, gentle little girl and because of her disposition she lived in the bedroom. This was the perfect place for her - it was much less hectic than Cookie's place, but she could still get love and attention, and even sleep on the bed. The Shadow Cats family these days is spread far and wide, and she had a sponsor in New Jersey. You may remember a gift package from her sponsor being opened during the KittyThon - she sent Jasmine a special blanket which she spent the past month curled up on in her favorite spot.

Most cats with feline leukemia get no chance at life at all. Jasmine had three wonderful years at the sanctuary, and certainly felt loved and secure every day. She got the best medical care possible, didn't suffer, and left this world surrounded by loving hands - from the day she came to us, right up to the end, Jasmine had a wonderful life. Thanks to everyone in the Shadow Cats family for making that possible for her and all the other little angels in our care.
