Sometimes you’ll see
stories about a cat narrowly escaping the jaws
of death, and perhaps there’s a bit of
exaggeration as to just how close a call it was.
But Inge really was down to her very last day
when Shadow Cats saved her.
Few groups in Central Texas take in cats who
have the feline leukemia virus, so Cookie’s
Place always stays full. And when there’s no
room for another, that usually means an
unfortunate cat who comes into a municipal
shelter has no other options. That’s what
happened to Inge – she arrived at Austin’s Town
Lake Animal Center and when they discovered that
she was feline leukemia positive they sent her
name out to area rescue groups and gave her time
to find a home. Since Cookie’s Place was full we
were unable to take her, and no other rescuer
came forward.
And then one of our little angels passed
suddenly and unexpectedly. In our grief we
realized that we now had a spot for Inge…on her
final day. So as we say at the sanctuary, the
cycle continues; we said goodbye to Truman and
opened our hearts and arms to Inge. She’s a
sweet, charming, loving little girl who will now
live her best life, with all the love we can
give her. |
