Mirror, mirror,
on the wall, who’s the cutest cat of all? Ginger
is definitely a contender! This cutie came from
a local feral colony where she couldn’t stay
because she needed treatment and close
monitoring for a heart murmur. She originally
went into the Uptown section of the sanctuary,
and seemed to fit right in there – not exactly a
lap cat, but got along just fine with everyone.
However, when she was given a chance to try life
in the Outback, it became obvious that she was
much more at home there. Some feral cats become
more domesticated when they are moved to a
shelter or sanctuary, but Ginger truly likes a
more feral lifestyle. In the Outback she has
plenty of fresh air, lots of room to roam, and
secluded nooks and crannies when she wants to
hide out. She’s not especially timid or skittish
– she just seems to really prefer living a bit
of a wilder lifestyle. And that’s just fine with
all of us here at Shadow Cats. If Ginger’s
happy, we’re happy!
