Chuck seems like he deserves an extra heart to
give him a little love --Barbara Hawkins--
Chuck
Born 12/12/08
Sometimes it’s not what you know, it’s who you
know that really counts. Chuck was struggling to
make a living in the wild around Bulverde, north
of San Antonio. From the look of his whiskers,
several of which are missing or very short, it
must have been a bit tough at times. Someone
found him and took him to a vet, and things got
even tougher – Chuck turned out to be feline
leukemia positive, which sends potential
adopters running for the exits.
But the
vet from whom Chuck’s rescuer sought help just
happened to be an acquaintance of Dr. Smith and
called Central Texas Cat Hospital. He knew that
Shadow Cats is just about the only place around
that rescues FeLV cats – and we fortunately had
a spot available for Chuck at the sanctuary in
Cookie’s Place.
Chuck is a really sweet guy, and not a street
fighter at all – he didn’t venture out of the
condo cage where new arrivals start out for
several weeks, and then only began to explore
the room very hesitantly. He’s friendly and
affectionate, though – especially if you’re
distributing plates of Fancy Feast! Now he can
often be found on a cozy corner pillow, and he
also likes to sit on the window shelves and
watch the birds on the feeder just outside. And
he finally discovered the door to the outside
enclosure, so his world just got a lot bigger!
