Brianna has had a lot of luck so far in her life – both really good, and really bad. Several years ago local authorities intervened in a terrible situation where someone had taken in an overwhelming number of cats, was unable to care for them, and things had deteriorated into serious neglect and abuse. A large number of cats, including Brianna, were rescued from desperate circumstances in the nick of time and taken in by local organizations like Shadow Cats.

That’s when Brianna’s good luck really kicked in. The Uptown section of the sanctuary provides a safe, calm, nurturing environment for her. Sanctuary staff and volunteers know just how to help cats like her slowly recover from those terrible times. It can be a long process, but at Shadow Cats we have an unlimited supply of patience and love for all cats, and especially ones like Brianna. So far she’s still very shy and mostly untouchable…..but in her eyes, there’s a recognition that she is now in a safe, comforting place. We’ve seen many examples over the years of cats exhibiting an amazing ability to return to normal after enduring unbelievable trauma. So however long Brianna’s road to recovery is, we’ll be right there with her every step of the way.
