Benji came to us
as a tiny kitten but has really grown up and
become quite the handsome young guy! He
started out, like most kittens, as a real live
wire and used to chase Titus all over the room –
but as he has matured he’s also developed a very
affectionate side. And probably from watching
Diamond, he likes to jump on your shoulders and
ride around the room perched next to your head.
At Austin’s Town Lake Animal
Center Benji didn’t have any playmates – or much
of a future at all, for that matter. A kitten
with feline leukemia has very few prospects,
which is why Shadow Cats takes them in whenever
we possibly can. At the sanctuary Benji doesn’t
even know he’s different – he’s surrounded by
lots of other cats who’ll play with him and show
him the ropes, and he'll have a safe and fun
environment to live in, complete with an outdoor
deck. Benji has developed a fondness for
the outdoor area when the weather is nice - and
he's a good hunter too.....more than once he's
caught a wayward lizard or snake and brought it
inside! But mostly he hunts toy mice, and
will usually jump right in when a game is going
on in Cookie's Place.
It can be tough to pick Benji out
on the Kitty Cam sometimes when all the orange
cats are in the room, but he has more pronounced
stripes than the others... and if you were to
ask Benji, he'd also tell you that he's the most
handsome ;o)
