It’s common practice when TNR’ing (that’s trap,
neuter and return for you rookies) feral cats to
grab a mama and all her kittens together. Often
mama gets spayed and returned to the colony
because she’s too used to the feral life and
really prefers it. But young kittens are easily
socialized, and so usually are able to be placed
in adoptive homes. That was the case with
Avery’s mama and all of his brothers and sisters
a few years ago. Mom went back to the Round Rock
colony that was her home, and all of the kittens
were adopted……except Avery.
