It’s been said that good things come in threes,
and that sure is the case with Ann Margaret. She
was one of three lucky feline leukemia kitties
who found a home in Cookie’s Place as a result
of the overwhelming response to our Christmas
2011 KittyThon. Female orange cats are rare, and
always very special. So being named after a
famous redhead seemed appropriate, and she’s
definitely not at all like Lucille Ball…..so she
became Ann Margaret.
Ann Margaret had a litter of kittens just before
rescued and coming to us, and she was slender
and very subdued, almost shy - no doubt a result
of all that she'd been through over the
preceding few months. At first she didn't
know what to make of all her new roomates, and
she stayed off to the side and didn't mingle
much. But she clearly liked human
affection, and with all our volunteers stopping
by to help her feel at home she got settled in
pretty quickly.
Now Ann Margaret is finding out just how much
fun it can be to have a lot of roommates....and
playmates! She seems to really like being
groomed by Weston, and rolls around in delight -
she will sometimes go over and start rubbing her
head on him when she wants his attention.
And instead of being the slender, sleek elegant
little girl we thought she was at first, Ann
Margaret is turning into a little butterball!
But compared to her old life on the streets,
we're sure that it's just "happy weight" now
that she realizes she's in a safe and loving
place ;o)
