Maybe at Shadow Cats we should have wings on our logo, because we’ve swooped in more than once just in the nick of time. Little Marley is a good example – once upon a time he was at Austin’s Town Lake Animal Center desperately hoping that someone would take him in despite his feline leukemia. Now he’s living happily and comfortably in Cookie’s Place, where you can watch him grow up on the KittyCam.

Few shelters accept FeLV cats, but at the sanctuary we’re set up to give them the care they need to live the best life possible. Young FeLV cats are especially susceptible to problems, and Marley was in the hospital a couple of times in his first year. But Dr. Smith’s extensive experience with this virus gives guys like Marley every advantage, and Marley has grown into a stunningly handsome, healthy adult. We don’t have room for every FeLV cat, of course, but we open our hearts and arms to as many as we possibly can – thanks to the support of dedicated staff, willing volunteers, and all the donors who are OUR guardian angels!
