Once a year I
have to go the vet for a checkup, even if I’m
feeling just fine. I really like going to see
Dr. Smith at Central Texas Cat Hospital. He’s
the one who took care of me when Shadow Cats
first rescued me – I was really hurt, and he
made me feel safe and got me all healed up. So
it’s fun to go see everyone there again, they
always make a big fuss over me and tell me how
cute I am now that I’m all grown up.
Dr. Smith checked me all over and then gave me a
shot but it didn’t hurt a bit, Mom and Dad
called it my day at the spa. And I don’t mind
riding in the car for a while to get there, I
have a really neat carrier. It’s like a big
wicker basket with a door, and the bottom is a
big fluffy cat bed so it’s very cozy to ride in.
Romeo, Tiger Lily, and Cairo all have to go see
Dr. Smith sometimes too. A few months ago Romeo
got really sick and Mom and Dad were worried,
but they took him to see Dr. Smith right away
and he knew just what to do to make him all
better. They have a lot of cats who live in the
office at Central Texas Cat Hospital and I
really like that – and they only treat cats, so
I never have to sit next to a scary dog in the
lobby. I like Dr. Smith a lot, but there is one
area where we have a difference of opinion. On
the checkup sheet there’s a spot where he marks
how our weight and size is, and he gave me a
score that means he thinks I’m a bit pudgy and
could stand to lose a little weight. I
disagree…I think I’m perfect just like I am!
