Dad used to get us all kinds of fancy toys, and
we always get excited when there’s something
new. But lots of times with a new toy, the fun
is in figuring it out – then it’s not much of a
challenge any more. And we’re pretty smart,
whenever Dad brings home a new toy it doesn’t
take us long at all to master it, and then we
mostly ignore it.
So Mom makes us lots of neat playthings out of
leftover stuff – we especially love cardboard
boxes and wrapping paper. She cuts holes in the
boxes and puts our small toys like mice and
balls inside. But what we like best is that
she’s always rearranging them to make them seem
new. Sometimes she lays big pieces of paper
across the tops of the boxes to make kind of a
tent, and we just love to jump on top and smash
the paper in. It makes such a neat sound!
Tiger Lily plays with me a lot. I’m getting
bigger and faster now – she’s still a little
quicker than me, and has longer legs, but
someday...
