Stevie’s life has been full of
ups and downs. He was born in 2007 to a feral
mother, and was trapped when he showed up as a
young kitten at a Shadow Cats feral colony.
Soon after that he became part of the Great
Kitty Rescue and exchange. The Best Friends
organization in Utah had just taken in hundreds
of abandoned cats from a massive rescue in
Pahrump, Nevada. A number of those cats had
feline leukemia, and as one of the few groups
anywhere caring for FeLV cats, Shadow Cats
offered to take as many as we had space for. In
return, two dozen healthy adoptable Shadow Cats
went to the Best Friends sanctuary and into
their adoption program in Kanab, Utah. One of
those cats was a very cute little tuxie kitten
named Stevie.
Best Friends is a large national organization
that handles many hundreds of cats with a very
high adoption success rate. And sure enough, 23
of the 24 Shadow Cats that went there have found
adoptive homes. But there’s one cat still
waiting after more than two years……Stevie. The
Best Friends sanctuary is a wonderful place –
but it’s still a shelter, with many cats and
people coming and going, and not nearly the same
as a loving home and family.
Stevie is just a bit on the shy side, but on a
recent visit to Best Friends we spent time with
him and found him to be an absolutely adorable,
loving cat. He’d be happy to be your one and
only, but certainly at Best Friends he’s learned
to get along just fine with lots of other cats.
After everything Stevie’s been through in the
first few years of his life, he really needs the
kind of loving, forever home where he can
flourish and live the life he deserves. At
Shadow Cats we feel so strongly about Stevie
that we’ll even fly up to Utah and bring him
back to the Austin area if we could find the
right home for him here. Could that be with
you? Just call us at (512) 922-9106 or email –
we’ll make it happen for the right person!
