In order to get adopted and stay adopted as a
cat or kitten you unfortunately often need to
fit the stereotype of a cute, cuddly, friendly
little bundle of fur who’ll be no trouble and
will put up with just about anything. If you’re
not like that, it may be tough to find, or keep,
a home. Sadie is “not like that”.
Sadie is, though, a wonderful and gorgeous cat –
just look at her. What she doesn’t like is to
be messed with by people, especially children.
That’s often enough to get you the old heave-ho
from an adoptive home, or keep you from ever
getting adopted. At Shadow Cats, though, we
leave the easy ones for someone else and prefer
to focus our efforts on the “unique individuals”
like Sadie. In the Outback section of the
sanctuary she is perfectly content, as you can
see. She has room to roam, fresh air, and
sunbeams to nap in. And if we never get to
touch her (and we probably won’t), that’s OK
with us – what’s important is knowing that Sadie
is loved and cared for, and living the good life
on her own terms, just the way she wants to.
