Some feral cat
colonies can really thrive and be a good place
for their residents to live for years. Others
are in places that are threatened by a lot of
human activity nearby, or worse. Around here
it’s not uncommon to find coyotes in many areas,
and the colony where Jet was living had that
problem – which did not make for long life
expectancies for its inhabitants. Luckily for
Jet, though, she was rescued by Shadow Cats,
along with her daughter Tree Cat.
You can see that Jet likes high places – she
really loves the ramps that are all the way at
the top of the Outback where she lives now.
It’s pretty common for formerly feral cats to
stick to the high spots and nooks and crannies
of the Outback, where they can easily avoid
human interaction. Not Jet, though – she just
likes showing off her climbing skills, but is a
versatile girl. She’s also very affectionate
and will usually come over when she sees you
come out into the Outback. Her fur is really
soft and fluffy, so petting her is as much fun
for you as it is for her. For Jet, life at the
sanctuary is the best of both worlds!
