When
Blossom was barely a month old, her mother was
carrying her across a busy road when they were
struck by a car. Mom was killed and little
Blossom, injured and scared, didn’t know what to
do so she just curled up next to her mom.
That’s how the good Samaritan who was driving by
found her. He scooped her up and ran into a
nearby pet supply store asking for help. Their
manager started calling rescue groups, and when
he got to Shadow Cats he found people willing to
help. Blossom soon found herself at Central
Texas Cat Hospital (CTCH), and under the expert
care of Dr. Roy and his staff all of her
injuries were treated. Except for losing an
eye, she made a full recovery.
Blossom
just happened to be in the CTCH lobby the day I
met Sheila to look into volunteering with Shadow
Cats. Talk about being in the right place at
the right time! Now I get to spend lots of time
with all the marvelous sanctuary cats, and then
go home and play with Blossom…..what could be
better? Whenever I look at Blossom I’m reminded
of everything that Shadow Cats does - from their
work with feral colonies, to all of the cats in
their care at the sanctuary who are able to live
the lives they deserve, to their rescue efforts
that give little angels like Blossom a second
chance at life. The cats are the real
beneficiaries, of course – but Shadow Cats has
been wonderful for me too!
