An Early Christmas Present
 |
Shadow Cats has a dedicated group of volunteers
who monitor area community cat colonies and also
TNR – trap, neuter, and return – cats throughout
Central Texas in an ongoing effort to make their
lives better. Recently, a trapper working with
a local apartment complex got a call…five
newborn kittens had been discovered under a
resident’s window. Seven other cats had been
TNR’d at that same complex just the week before.
Our trapper returned and not only picked up the
kittens but successfully trapped their mother,
since the kittens were too young to survive on
their own. Now they are all under foster care
in the trapper’s home and safe from the bitter
cold nights we have been experiencing lately.
In the coming weeks the kittens will be nurtured
and socialized; mama cat is very feral and will
most likely be returned to her community cat
colony after her kittens are weaned. And, of
course, mama will be spayed so that this doesn’t
happen again.
These kittens will get all the care they need –
but vaccinations, vet visits, and
spaying/neutering are not free, of course. Can
you help out with a donation to get them off to
a good start in life? Or, perhaps a few of you
could offer a new forever home to one
or more of these little angels.
Contact us and we’ll be happy to tell you
all about them!
UPDATE: All kittens have been adopted into
loving homes!
